Great North Run 2018

On Sunday 9th September 2018 a group of students and staff volunteered at The Great North Run in South Shields. A team of 30 including staff and students were handed the responsibility of distributing goody bags to the 43,000 runners who finished the event.

The King’s Academy students worked tirelessly all day to ensure all runners were rewarded for their effort. The team were praised by the organisers of the event for their hard work and maturity throughout the course of the day.

One of the highlights of the day was watching the elite athletes cross the line in the wheelchair races, the Woman’s elite race and the Men’s elite race. Students and staff alike were given to unique opportunity to stand metres away from the finish line where the athletes finished and were able to witness Sir Mo Farah achieving a record breaking 5th Great North run title.

Well done and thank you to everyone involved in the trip!
