Prize giving

Our annual prize giving ceremony celebrates students’ successes and talents, marking a year of hard work and outstanding achievement.  

 

In front of fellow class mates, teachers and parents, awards are presented for effort, achievement, sport, music, poetry, citizenship and merit and in special areas, such as progress in learning and work experience.

The Chairman's award of special recognition was presented by Sir Peter Vardy to The King's Academy Gospel Choir, which entertained the audience with renditions of ‘Why we Sing' and ‘Can you Hear'.

 

Year 11 pupil Megan Connor received the Princess Diana Award for courage in the face of adversity following her battle against ill health while continuing with her studies.

 

The Academy Drama Bowl was presented to Year 11 student Lana Walker who led a musical rendition from the school production of Godspell and performed an operatic solo.

 

Teachers also got in on the act with an exhibition in giant inflatable sumo wrestling costumes followed by electric guitar solos from Year 10 pupils Nico McCutcheon and Ryan Hawkins.

 

The House Cup was lifted for the first time by Greeks after a hard fought battle for honours.Georgina Nicholls and Chester Nixon were named Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.

 

The ultimate accolade of Outstanding Student of the Year was presented to Sadaf Dar for her kind and consistent help to others.

 

Sadaf raised hundreds of pounds for the Butterwick Hospice is a member of the St John Ambulance and has also worked as a volunteer in a South African orphanage.
