Departmental staff comprises Head of Department plus two full time members of teaching staff and three part time Geography teachers (the Vice Principal is also a Geography teacher!).

The department is enriched by the extensive and varied prior experience of the teachers. Staff in the department are well travelled, having visited destinations including Australia, China, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. The full-time members of staff take responsibility for one year group each in terms of managing curriculum and assessment issues. Key Stage 4 and 5 students participate in a variety of geography fieldtrips where they examine features of the local geography in preparation for completing Geography coursework or exams.

Course Outline/Overview

The Key Stages at which each course is taught are Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

Geography is a core foundation subject at Key Stage 3 and an optional subject at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. At Key Stage 4 students study the Edexcel A Specification. At Key Stage 5 students study the Edexcel Specification.

Geography is a popular option choice at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. There are currently 8 classes at Key Stage 4 and 2 classes at Key Stage 5.
