£13,531 Pay per annum (0.75-0.77 FTE)

Working times:
32.5 hours a week (5 x 6.5 hour days, 8.20am to 3.40pm). Term time + 1 week. 50 minutes unpaid per day for break or lunch.

Start date:
Immediately, subject to successful candidate’s availability / notice period

The King’s Academy is a unique, inclusive mainstream school with three specialist SEND provisions for students with vision impairment, students who are Deaf/hearing impaired and students with Higher Learning Needs.

Our SEND trainee role would be suitable for someone wishing to change career or those new to education settings. Working with SEND students is demanding but extremely rewarding and at The King’s Academy we are looking to grow our specialist SEND team and develop our provision.

We can offer you a diverse range of experiences, support and working with SEND students with a range of needs to help them to achieve their personal best and helping them to develop independence.

Our induction year training includes:

  • Phonics training and literacy support strategies
  • Assistive technology training
  • ASD training
  • Introduction to Braille and British Sign Language
  • Working alongside an experienced SEND mentor to help develop your skills
