Summer School 2021

Summer School Success!

Our summer school was an opportunity for invited students to prepare for the new term ahead and benefit from additional support.   Thirty-seven students attended for a week at the end of August.  We completed Literacy, English and Geography and History lessons based on an Olympics theme.

Our enrichment activities throughout the week included trampolining, origami, baking and PE.  Students were able to work together, across year groups – something we really missed last year due to our ‘bubbles’ system.   It was positive to see our older students from Years 8,9,10 and 11 helping new Year 7 students and answering their questions.

We celebrated at the end of the week with an afternoon tea, with cakes prepared and iced by our students during their Food lessons.  A great time was had by all who attended.  Thank you to teachers and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) who helped to make the Summer School a resounding success!

The 2021 Summer School was funded by the Department for Education.  £7,245 was received from the Department, which paid for:

Staffing costs (teaching/ learning support/ cleaning/ catering): £6,543
Resources: £281
Refreshments and lunches: £421
