World Book Day

World Book Day is an event that takes place every year. This year, it is taking place on Thursday 7th March 2019. This is the 22nd year that there’s been a World Book Day, and on 7th March 2019, children of all ages will come together to appreciate reading. Very loudly and very happily. The aim of the day is to encourage children to enjoy the pleasure of books!

Why is World Book Day important? For one, this fantastic celebration of literature has generated over 13 million free books for children, many of whom would not have had access to books otherwise.

Supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waterstones, WHSmith and Marks & Spencer are involved too. Because of this, children can spend their token easier and faster, giving them access to books as quickly as possible.

Here at The King’s Academy, we will be having a Book Sale on Thursday in the library at break and lunchtime.  There is also a fabulous display of book reviews in the entrance hall, created by Mrs Hutchinson and her helpers, plus an opportunity to win a small gift if you can talk in a captivating way about your favourite book!  So join in and have fun!
